About the role
The Contract Management Advisor supports the strategic procurement function by overseeing the full lifecycle of commercial agreements across construction, technology, goods and services. Working closely with the procurement team and legal counsel, the role ensures contracts align with organizational objectives, comply with the Nova Scotia Procurement Act and NSLC policies, and mitigate risk.
Key responsibilities
- Manage end‑to‑end contract processes from intake, drafting, negotiation, execution, renewal to termination for a variety of categories.
- Draft, review and revise commercial agreements such as CCDC forms, supplier agreements, statements of work, NDAs and technology contracts.
- Lead negotiations with vendors, contractors and service providers while balancing business goals, policy requirements and risk mitigation.
- Identify contractual risks, recommend solutions or escalate high‑risk issues to senior leadership.
- Coordinate with external legal counsel on complex contract matters and document legal advice.
- Ensure compliance with the Nova Scotia Procurement Act, NSLC policies and relevant regulations.
- Serve as primary contact for internal stakeholders, providing guidance throughout the contracting process.
- Support deployment and adoption of the Contracts module in Bonfire and maintain accurate data in the CLM system.
- Monitor vendor performance, address non‑compliance and prepare contract summaries, risk assessments and performance reports for leadership.
- Promote collaboration across Legal, Procurement, Risk and business teams to ensure consistent contract practices.
Required profile
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, including handling difficult conversations.
- Sound judgment and the capacity to make recommendations to senior leadership.
- Knowledge of public‑sector procurement principles and contract management best practices.
- Experience working with cross‑functional teams such as Legal, Procurement and Risk.
Required skills
- Proficiency with the Bonfire Contracts module.
- Experience using a contract lifecycle management (CLM) system.
