Data Protection Consultant

About the role

Judicium Education is seeking a Data Protection Consultant to join its specialist team that supports over 1,700 schools and academies across the United Kingdom. The role involves providing expert advice, audit services and training to help educational organisations achieve and maintain compliance with data protection legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct data compliance audits for client schools, analyse findings and produce detailed audit reports with recommendations and follow‑up actions.
• Review existing policies and procedures, assess their compliance with GDPR and UK data protection law, and suggest practical improvements.
• Respond to client queries by phone or email, offering clear guidance, researching options and managing any required follow‑up.
• Draft and review Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and other compliance documentation.
• Maintain regular contact with clients to monitor progress toward compliance and support ongoing data protection activities.
• Deliver training sessions—both virtual and in‑person—to ensure staff understand their data protection responsibilities.
• Assist clients in handling data subject requests and data breaches in line with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute proactively to the data protection team by sharing ideas, presenting discussion topics and supporting departmental development.

Required profile

• Proven experience in data protection compliance, preferably within the education or legal sector.
• Strong knowledge of GDPR, UK data protection legislation and best‑practice policies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build trusted client relationships.
• Ability to work autonomously, analyse complex information and produce high‑quality reports.
• Experience delivering client training sessions, both virtually and face‑to‑face.
