Legal Counsel – Platform Liability

About the role
Spotify is looking for a Legal Counsel to lead its Platform Liability and Enforcement function. In this role you will oversee the legal takedown process, support the development of content policies, and help resolve claims arising from those policies across Spotify’s global operations.
Key responsibilities
- Advise on global compliance with platform liability frameworks and safe‑harbor laws such as the Digital Services Act, DMCA and Section 230.
- Manage Spotify’s legal takedown process for all content types, including intellectual‑property and speech‑based offenses.
- Provide legal advice and risk assessments for new products and platform‑liability issues.
- Collaborate with internal and external counsel, government affairs teams and global stakeholders to track evolving legal requirements.
- Counsel the Trust & Safety and Content Protection teams on policy implementation and proactive enforcement.
- Support litigation and press inquiries related to content‑takedown matters.
- Develop scalable operational practices for handling legal takedown requests.
Required profile
- Law degree (or equivalent qualification).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a law firm or in‑house legal department.
- Deep understanding of intermediary liability frameworks and experience litigating related cases.
- Proven expertise in copyright law and other content‑related legal issues.
- Strong ability to assess and advise on emerging legal standards.
- Experience working with global stakeholders and explaining legal concepts to non‑lawyers.
