Data Protection Officer (PII Compliance) – Remote Contract

About the role

We are seeking a Data Protection Officer to lead PII compliance initiatives on a contract basis. This remote position involves overseeing privacy protocols, guiding cross‑functional teams, and responding to data incidents.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and manage PII compliance protocols to ensure lawful processing of personal data.
• Evaluate data flows, classify information, and mitigate risks related to structural identifiability.
• Collaborate with teams to develop, review, and update data‑management, privacy, and compliance policies.
• Provide guidance and training on best practices for handling sensitive documents and PII.
• Act as primary liaison during privacy incidents, supporting investigation and remediation.
• Maintain detailed records of processing activities for regulatory reporting and transparency.

Required profile

• Minimum experience in PII compliance with proven expertise in complex, non‑trivial scenarios.
• Deep understanding of GDPR, data‑privacy, and related compliance standards.
• Strong background in data management techniques that reduce re‑identification risk.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for conveying privacy concepts.
• Experience handling sensitive documents, preferably within finance or corporate environments.
