Deputy Headteacher – SEN Secondary – Chiswick

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Deputy Headteacher to join a welcoming SEN secondary school in Chiswick. This permanent, full‑time position starts in September and offers the chance to shape the educational experience of students with additional learning needs.

Key responsibilities

• Work alongside the Headteacher to lead the secondary provision.
• Monitor and develop the quality of teaching and learning across the school.
• Manage and develop teaching staff and middle leaders.
• Contribute to whole‑school improvement planning and implementation.
• Ensure safeguarding and student welfare remain a priority.
• Build strong relationships with families, external agencies and professionals.
• Oversee curriculum development and assessment for the secondary department.
• Promote high expectations for student achievement and behaviour.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Previous senior leadership experience (Assistant Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher).
• Experience working within an SEN setting.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Thorough understanding of safeguarding, curriculum development and school improvement.
• Ability to manage and motivate staff effectively.
