About the role
The Director of Quality and Safeguarding will shape the strategic direction of safeguarding and quality assurance across Trafford’s Adult & Wellbeing Directorate. Reporting to the Corporate Director, this senior leader will ensure council‑wide safeguarding priorities, robust quality frameworks and a culture of continuous learning.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement a consistent safeguarding strategy across the directorate.
- Lead assurance and quality frameworks, embedding learning from audits, resident feedback and serious incidents.
- Prepare the organisation for the Care Quality Commission’s new assurance regime, ensuring policies and practices meet regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with council colleagues, NHS partners and system leaders to drive improvement and support the Improving Lives Everyday transformation programme.
- Provide visible, values‑driven leadership, modelling expected behaviours and culture.
- Work with elected members, senior officers, external partners and national bodies to maintain Trafford’s reputation as a trusted health and care partner.
- Deputise for the Corporate Director as required, contributing to overall directorate leadership.

- Strategic insight and strong partnership skills, able to influence and drive change across complex systems.
- Commitment to improving the lives of adults, carers and families in Trafford.
