Domestic Assistant/Porter – Hawick Health Centre

About the role

The Facilities Department at Hawick Health Centre is seeking a Domestic Assistant/Porter to join its dedicated team. This permanent position works the early shift, Monday to Friday, providing essential support to keep the centre clean, safe and welcoming for patients and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Perform a range of domestic duties including cleaning, waste disposal, and linen handling.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene and infection control throughout the health centre.
• Support clinical areas by ensuring equipment and rooms are ready for use.
• Adhere to the NHS Borders Behavioural Framework and organisational policies.
• Work the 06:00‑11:00 shift consistently and reliably.

Required profile

• Demonstrated competence in domestic and cleaning activities.
• Flexibility to adapt to the early‑shift schedule.
• Knowledge of the NHS Borders Behavioural Framework.
• Legal right to work in the United Kingdom.
• Willingness to undergo required background and criminal record checks.
