EC&I Technician – Industrial Power Generation

About the role

The EC&I Technician will support the delivery of electrical, control and instrumentation work at our Energy Works Hull plant, which processes up to 240,000 tonnes of refuse‑derived fuel per year. You will work on a 25 MW gasification facility, ensuring all activities meet functional safety, cyber security and hazardous‑area standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Lead EC&I Technician in implementing engineering and maintenance processes, risk management and reporting.
• Record, plan, investigate and rectify faults in line with operational priorities.
• Execute EC&I maintenance plans and supervise internal and external personnel to meet safety and quality standards.
• Support safety planning, scheduling and execution for both internal teams and external contractors.
• Collaborate with project teams to specify, hand over and carry out major outage and project works.

Required profile

• Time‑served apprentice or NVQ Level 3 in a mechanical discipline (or equivalent).
• IOSH Managing Safely certification or willingness to obtain it.
• Experience in power generation, energy‑from‑waste or 24/7 high‑hazard manufacturing environments with line‑management responsibilities.
• Proven ability to maintain rotating equipment, steam‑raising systems, piping and valves.
• Competence in using a Central Maintenance Management System for accurate reporting and work‑order improvement.

• Central Maintenance Management System (CMMS) usage.
• HV and LV distribution knowledge.
• BPCS and EC&I system familiarity.
