Electrical Bias Maintenance Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Bias Maintenance Engineer to join a highly automated manufacturing operation in Birmingham. The role combines hands‑on electrical fault‑finding, preventative maintenance and the mentorship of a wider maintenance team. You will work on CNC, PLC, robotics and automation equipment to ensure reliable production.

Key responsibilities

• Provide hands‑on breakdown support across manufacturing and facilities.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, PLC, HMI and robotic faults.
• Maintain and improve automated production lines through planned and preventative activities.
• Support and allocate resources for other maintenance engineers.
• Collaborate with TPM, technical support, quality and manufacturing engineers.
• Assist with the introduction, commissioning and continuous improvement of new machinery.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, job sheets and consumable stock levels.
• Promote safe working practices and uphold high 5S and TPM standards.

Required profile

• Electrical or electronic qualification at HNC level or higher.
• Strong electrical bias complemented by mechanical maintenance skills.
• Extensive experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Proven CNC machinery maintenance background.
• Experience in PLC fault‑finding or formal PLC training.
• Knowledge of servo motors, drives and FANUC robots.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings.
• Availability for double‑day shifts, occasional weekends and shutdowns.

What we offer

• Basic salary £40,000‑£45,000 per annum.
• £3,556 annual shift allowance (bringing total package to ~£50,000).
