Customer Engineer IV – Northern Ireland

About the role

As a Customer Engineer IV at Applied Materials you will act as the primary liaison with customers in Northern Ireland, installing, maintaining and upgrading advanced semiconductor equipment. The role is based in Berkshire, UK, with regular travel to Derry/Londonderry and other UK/European sites.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.
• Use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Coordinate with customers to ensure smooth operations and high satisfaction.
• Participate in escalation calls, cost‑reduction projects and uptime improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• 7‑10 years of experience in field service or semiconductor equipment support.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time across the UK and Europe.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build lasting customer relationships.
• Commitment to safety procedures and adherence to checklists and schematics.

Required skills

• Knowledge of semiconductor processes and related tool sets.
• Experience with Microsoft Office products and general IT systems.
• Ability to work with digital analytics for equipment troubleshooting.
