Electrical Test & Inspection Engineer (Edinburgh)

About the role

We are looking for an Electrical Test and Inspection Engineer to join our team in Edinburgh. The role involves field‑based work, travelling daily to client sites to carry out high‑quality examinations of electrical installations. You will operate both independently and as part of a national team, delivering reports and advice to clients.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out electrical safety tests on portable appliances and installations in line with the Code of Practice and the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
• Plan and execute inspections within agreed time‑scales, record activities in company systems and produce professional inspection reports.
• Provide technical and legislative advice to clients, maintain strong client relationships and identify business opportunities.
• Collaborate with regional planners and managers to ensure daily plans are met and KPI targets are achieved.

Required profile

• Relevant electrical knowledge and previous experience in a similar role or as an apprentice holding the 18th Edition.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, computer literacy and good knowledge of market trends and legislation.
• Hold a current UK driving licence, GCSEs in Maths and English, and the required City & Guilds qualifications.

Required skills

• COMPEX 1–4 competency.
• 18th Edition regulations.
• City & Guilds Part 1, 2 and 3 or Level 3 City & Guilds 2365 Diploma.
• City & Guilds 2391 or 2394/5 courses.
