Engineering Technician – Dairy

About the role

We are looking for an Engineering Technician to join our Manchester dairy site. You will provide front‑line reactive maintenance, quickly restore equipment to service, and drive cost‑effective improvements to increase reliability and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure effective handover of information across shifts.
• Use PMS/CMMS to prioritise work and support root‑cause failure analysis (RCFA).
• Diagnose, test, repair and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Observe, recognise and report machinery defects or signs of impending failure.
• Contact OEMs and suppliers for technical support and expedite parts when needed.
• Lead shift‑based problem solving when corrective actions are not clear.
• Coach operators on asset‑care tasks and work as part of a ONE TEAM.
• Identify and implement improvements, raise life‑cycle issues with recommendations.
• Apply 5WHY, RCA and 5S techniques in workshops and stores.

Required profile

• Recognised apprenticeship in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Experience in maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
• Mechanical/electrical bias with ONC/HNC qualifications.
• IOSH/NEBOSH certification – desirable.
• Electrical qualification – desirable.
• Multiskilled engineer experience.
• Willingness to work a 4‑on‑4‑off rotating day/night shift pattern.
