Systems Engineer

About the role

Stark is developing AI‑enabled Unmanned Surface Vessels (USVs) for NATO and commercial maritime operations. The Systems Engineer will lead system‑level integration, ensuring mechanical, electrical and software subsystems function as a cohesive, mission‑ready platform.

Key responsibilities

• Lead integration of USV platforms from concept through delivery, maintaining overall platform coherency.
• Define system architecture, produce Interface Control Documents and manage interface control processes across mechanical, electrical and software domains.
• Develop and execute verification and validation plans, author test procedures, run sea‑trials and compile test reports.
• Support bench builds, hardware integration and hands‑on vessel testing, including travel to test ranges and customer sites.
• Analyse telemetry data to identify trends, failure modes and contribute to predictive maintenance strategies.

Required profile

• Degree (or equivalent) in Systems, Maritime, Aerospace, Electrical or related engineering discipline.
• Significant experience delivering systems‑engineering on complex autonomous platforms, with a proven track record in V‑Model development.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, highly organised and able to work in fast‑moving, ambiguous environments.
• Willingness to travel within the UK/Europe for testing and integration.
• Eligibility for UK defence security clearance.
