Mechanical Maintenance Engineer – Process Manufacturing

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a well‑established process manufacturing business in Manchester. You will work within an experienced engineering team, maintaining both modern and legacy plant equipment through planned and reactive activities while driving continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown repairs on a variety of process equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical faults on pumps, valves, gearboxes, agitators, actuators and vessels.
• Perform basic pipe‑fitting tasks and clear mechanical blockages.
• Support ongoing investment projects and contribute to improving plant reliability.
• Adhere to strong health and safety standards and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Mechanically‑focused maintenance background.
• Level 3 engineering qualification or apprenticeship (or equivalent).
• Previous experience in manufacturing maintenance.
• Proven mechanical fault‑finding ability.
