Environment, Health and Safety Manager

About the role

The Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager will oversee EHS performance across two manufacturing sites in Sedgefield, County Durham and Keighley, West Yorkshire. Reporting to the Operations Director, the role is autonomous and requires regular site visits, a proactive safety mindset, and the ability to influence all levels of the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the lead EHS subject‑matter expert for both sites, providing advice and guidance.
• Develop, implement and maintain the company’s EHS strategy, policies and systems to ensure full regulatory compliance.
• Promote a proactive EHS culture, encouraging safe behaviours and continuous improvement.
• Ensure robust risk assessments, safe systems of work and SOPs are in place and regularly reviewed.
• Plan and conduct site inspections, audits, fire safety checks and environmental audits.
• Lead investigations of accidents, incidents and near‑misses, delivering root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Maintain full accountability for environmental compliance, waste management, pollution prevention and permit adherence.
• Manage accurate EHS records, performance metrics and reporting to senior leadership.
• Design and deliver EHS training, inductions and toolbox talks.
• Chair Health, Safety and Environmental meetings and ensure actions are followed through.
