Financial Accountant – Hybrid, London

About the role

This is a six‑month contract position for a qualified Financial Accountant within a large members organisation based in central London. The role is hybrid, allowing you to work both on‑site and remotely while supporting the finance team on statutory accounts and system‑related projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead or support year‑end accounts and liaise with external auditors.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and internal reporting requirements.
• Maintain and improve financial controls, processes and documentation.
• Support improvements across payroll, VAT, banking and treasury functions.
• Oversee bank and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Review, streamline and automate finance processes where possible.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and provide financial insight to non‑finance stakeholders.
• Participate in finance system implementation or major upgrades, including user testing and data migration.

Required profile

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA).
• Proven experience preparing statutory accounts for large, complex organisations.
• Strong technical knowledge of finance systems and ability to translate requirements into solutions.
• Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex financial information to non‑financial audiences.
