Financial Controller

About the role

Orbital is building AI‑first industrial hardware and needs a Financial Controller to create and lead its first scalable finance function across the UK, US and Canada. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will own the company’s financial data, establish robust controls and provide strategic insight to fuel rapid growth.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day financial operations, monthly, quarterly and annual close, and consolidation of accounts across multiple entities.
• Establish and maintain a strong financial control environment, including policies, procedures and approval frameworks.
• Build and scale finance infrastructure: ERP implementation, chart of accounts design, and reporting systems.
• Ensure compliance with local statutory reporting, tax filings and regulatory requirements; coordinate with external advisors on corporate tax, VAT/sales tax and international structuring.
• Lead relationships with external auditors and advisors, overseeing the annual audit process and preparing board reporting packs.
• Provide financial analysis and insight to support business decision‑making.
• Recruit, manage and mentor a growing finance team.

Required profile

• Passion for physical technology and curiosity about AI.
• Desire to learn and work in tightly integrated, vertically integrated teams.
• Experience building or scaling finance functions in multi‑entity environments.
• Ability to lead and develop finance talent.
