Financial Controller

About the role

Moonshot is seeking a Financial Controller to strengthen its finance team and support its mission to counter online harms. The role involves improving financial processes, managing cash flow, and delivering accurate reporting across multiple international entities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead short‑ and medium‑term cash forecasting and cash management.
• Consolidate multi‑currency financials for five operating companies in the UK, Ireland, Canada, and the United States.
• Prepare and analyse project profitability, variance analysis, and management reports.
• Liaise with project teams on grant/contract compliance, billing, and margin reporting.
• Support the Finance Director with monthly and quarterly KPI and financial reports for clients, investors, and the Board.
• Facilitate annual audits and ensure statutory and sales‑tax compliance across all entities.
• Provide line‑management to one direct report and coordinate payroll processing for UK, US, Canada, and Ireland.
• Process accounts payable/receivable and investigate financial inconsistencies.

Required profile

• ACCA qualification.
• Proven experience in a similar finance role with strong cost accounting knowledge.
• Excellent risk analysis, budgeting, and forecasting capabilities.
• Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Eligibility to work in the UK and ability to pass relevant security clearances.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Google Sheets (Google Workspace) or Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with Xero accounting software.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
