Financial Controller

About the role

A growing, entrepreneurial insurance business is looking for an experienced Financial Controller to join its London finance team. Reporting directly to the CFO, the role is commercially focused and responsible for financial control, reporting, regulatory compliance and supporting the business’s continued growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month‑end and year‑end financial reporting processes.
• Oversee financial controls, reconciliations and audit management.
• Support regulatory and statutory reporting requirements.
• Manage insurance finance operations, including premium and claims accounting.
• Deliver budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
• Drive process improvement and finance transformation initiatives.
• Partner with senior stakeholders across finance, underwriting, operations and actuarial teams to support business growth.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant from a Big 4 firm.
• Significant experience as a Financial Controller or in senior finance roles.
• Background in insurance, MGA, brokerage or insurance audit.
• Strong technical accounting and regulatory knowledge.
• Commercially minded with excellent communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast‑growing environment.
