General Practitioner – NHS/Ministry of Defence

About the role

The Ministry of Defence is recruiting a qualified General Practitioner to join the medical team at His Majesty's Ship (HMS) Excellent Medical Facility on Whale Island, Portsmouth. You will deliver primary care services to service personnel and their families, working within a NHS‑aligned environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive primary medical care, including diagnosis, treatment and follow‑up.
• Maintain accurate patient records in line with NHS standards.
• Participate in out‑of‑hours on‑call duties and emergency response as required.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic patient management.

Required profile

• Fully registered medical practitioner with a licence to practise in the UK.
• Experience in general practice or primary care settings.
• Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.
