Graduate SEND Teaching Assistant – Secondary School (Manchester)

About the role

This full‑time, fixed‑term position supports a highly‑rated secondary school in North Manchester. It is designed for recent graduates who wish to gain classroom experience before commencing teacher training in September 2027. You will work alongside teachers to help learners with SEND and those who need additional academic support.

Key responsibilities

• Provide in‑class academic assistance across subjects such as Maths, English, Science, Humanities and PE.
• Deliver one‑to‑one intervention and mentoring sessions outside the classroom.
• Assist with behaviour management and create a calm, positive learning environment.
• Support the implementation of inclusive strategies for SEND and SEMH students.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to ensure consistent support for all learners.

Required profile

• Recent graduate with at least a 2:2 degree, preferably in English, Maths, Science or a related subject.
• Right to work in the UK and willingness to obtain an enhanced DBS check.
• Up‑to‑date safeguarding training (or willingness to complete it).
• Two professional references related to work with children.

Required skills

• Safeguarding awareness.
