About the role

The University of East London is seeking a Head of Department to lead the Department of Psychology and Human Development within the School of Childhood and Social Care. This senior academic position will provide strategic direction for a diverse portfolio of psychology‑related programmes and support the School’s mission to deliver research‑informed, practice‑based education.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and management for the Department of Psychology and Human Development.
• Oversee the delivery and development of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes listed in the department’s portfolio.
• Promote research excellence and professional accreditation across the department’s programmes.
• Collaborate with School leadership to advance the School’s social‑justice and industry‑focused agenda.

Required profile

• Proven academic leadership experience in higher education.
• Strong record of research, teaching and professional engagement in psychology or related fields.
• Ability to work with diverse stakeholders and drive inclusive initiatives.

What we offer

• Salary £73,705 to £92,190 per annum inclusive of London weighting.
• Full‑time permanent contract.
• Location at Stratford Campus, London.
