Head of Housing and Development

About the role

YMCA Bournemouth is seeking a Head of Housing and Development to lead strategic initiatives that help people overcome homelessness. You will guide the Housing department in delivering safe, person‑centred supported housing while expanding future development opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide inspirational leadership, motivating and building high‑performing teams.
• Ensure resident outcomes are prioritised, supporting individuals with complex needs.
• Develop and execute a forward‑looking housing strategy and service vision.
• Translate property development plans into new housing and facilities.
• Maintain operational excellence, compliance, and budget management.

Required profile

• Passionate about empowering people experiencing homelessness, addiction, and complex needs.
• Compelling communicator able to inspire teams, present to boards, and negotiate with partners.
• Strategic thinker who can set direction, manage ambiguity, and drive change.
• Skilled at balancing operational and strategic priorities under pressure.
• Business development experience to identify opportunities, craft proposals, and build partnerships.
• Financial literacy with experience managing complex budgets and modelling viability.

Required skills

What we offer

• Competitive salary between £54,000 and £60,000 per annum.
• Full‑time, 40‑hour week with Monday‑Friday schedule.
