Health Visitor – Children’s Services

About the role

The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking an enthusiastic Health Visitor to join the Inverclyde Children & Families Health Visiting Team. You will deliver a high‑quality, safe community health visiting service aligned with the GIRFEC framework, managing a caseload of children and families.

Key responsibilities

• Provide a high‑quality health visiting service in the community.
• Manage and supervise a defined caseload, ensuring safe and effective care.
• Conduct robust assessments and make appropriate referrals.
• Use evidence‑based practice to address identified needs.
• Collaborate with partner agencies to support children and families.
• Apply in‑depth knowledge of child protection and GIRFEC/National Practice Model.
• Lead discussions and make decisions in complex situations.
• Develop and implement policies, procedures, service standards, and improvements.
• Maintain ongoing professional development.

Required profile

• Registered nurse or midwife at degree level (or equivalent).
• Post‑registration qualification in Health Visiting/Public Health Nursing (Part 3 NMC register).
• Educated to Master’s level or equivalent knowledge (e.g., NES modules in Assessment, Leadership, Critical Thinking).
• Strong understanding of legislation related to information sharing, data storage, and public protection.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, early intervention, and protection pathways.
