About the role
We are seeking a qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a specialist SEMH primary school in Wembley. The role is full‑time, starting September 2026, and offers a temporary‑to‑permanent pathway.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver targeted interventions to individual pupils and small groups.
- Cover classes across the school when teaching staff are absent.
- Support pupils’ academic, emotional, social and behavioural development.
- Implement and monitor behaviour‑support strategies.
- Work with teachers and the multidisciplinary team to deliver planned learning activities.
- Record and report on pupil progress and self‑regulation development.
Required profile
- Recognised HLTA qualification.
- Proven experience at HLTA level supporting SEMS, ASD or complex behavioural needs.
- Experience in a specialist setting such as a PRU, alternative provision or SEMH school.
- Strong behaviour‑management and de‑escalation abilities.
- Ability to build trusting relationships with vulnerable pupils.
