HR Operations & Payroll Advisor (Public Sector)

About the role

This specialist HR & Payroll Advisor role supports payroll, workforce reporting and reward activities for a public‑sector regulatory body. You will partner with senior stakeholders to provide insight on pay, gender pay gap reporting and remuneration benchmarking while helping shape future reward practices.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary contact for payroll queries and reward‑related matters.
• Support payroll assurance processes and review payroll accuracy.
• Produce and analyse gender pay gap reports and workforce data.
• Research employee benefits and reward trends across sectors.
• Interpret and advise on pay and reward policies.
• Provide senior leadership with reward insights and recommendations.
• Collaborate with HR Operations, Finance and other stakeholders.
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives within People Services.
• Oversee a small team in the pay and reward area.

Required profile

• Previous experience in Reward, Payroll, Compensation & Benefits, HR Operations or a similar role.
• Strong payroll knowledge and experience handling payroll queries.
• Experience producing reward analysis, pay benchmarking or workforce reporting.
• Excellent numerical, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Public‑sector experience is advantageous.
• Available to start at short notice.
