Payroll Manager

About the role

Checkout.com is seeking a Payroll Manager to own global payroll operations for roughly 2,400 employees across 24+ countries. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will lead a high‑performing team and drive a major transformation to unify regional payroll providers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a global team of five, handling talent acquisition, coaching and career development.
• Consolidate 14+ regional payroll vendors into a single global provider and define the target operating model.
• Integrate HRIS data flows (Workday) into the global payroll system to achieve end‑to‑end automation.
• Own monthly payroll delivery, ensuring 100% accuracy and proper GL postings.
• Manage complex payroll events such as shadow payroll, tax equalisation for secondments, and share‑based compensation processing.
• Oversee payroll and employment tax audits across 24+ jurisdictions, maintaining zero‑defect compliance.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in high‑growth environments, preferably fintech or tech.
• Proven track record of managing end‑to‑end international payroll and equity‑related tax withholdings.
• CIPP or equivalent certified payroll professional status.
• Strong problem‑solving ability to consolidate fragmented regional processes.

Required skills

• Workday (HRIS) expertise.
• Cloudpay platform experience.
• Deep knowledge of global mobility, shadow payroll, tax equalisation and share‑based compensation.
