HVAC Engineer – Commercial Services

About the role

We are looking for an experienced HVAC Engineer to join our Facilities Management division, delivering planned and reactive services to commercial and retail sites across the UK. The role involves installation, maintenance and commissioning of air‑conditioning and ventilation systems.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs for commercial clients.
• Install HVAC systems, ductwork, thermostats, actuators and smart energy controls.
• Commission new equipment, perform system testing and verify performance.
• Produce service reports, RAMS, commissioning sheets and maintain asset logs in the CAFM system.
• Diagnose and repair refrigeration circuits, ventilation pumps, valves and control devices.
• Provide out‑of‑hours emergency call‑out cover as part of the engineering rota.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in commercial HVAC/F‑Gas work.
• F‑Gas qualification (essential).
• City & Guilds Level 2 or 3 in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration or equivalent.
• NVQ Level 2/3 in Mechanical Engineering, Heating & Ventilation or Building Services.
• Ability to work safely in live commercial environments and comply with UK Building Regulations and HSE guidelines.

Required skills

• F‑Gas certification
• HVAC system and ductwork installation
• Controls installation (thermostats, actuators, smart energy systems)
• Commissioning and system testing of HVAC equipment
• Use of diagnostic tools – gauges, multimeters, airflow meters, BMS interfaces
• Refrigerant handling and leak testing
