Insurance Accountant – Specialty MGA (Hybrid, London)

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Insurance Accountant to join a fast‑growing specialty insurance MGA in the City of London. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be involved in all aspects of insurance accounting while helping to shape the finance function as the business scales.

Key responsibilities

• Process and reconcile premium bordereaux from brokers and coverholders.
• Manage month‑end close activities including journal entries, accruals, balance‑sheet reconciliations and variance analysis.
• Handle accounts payable/receivable tasks such as supplier invoices, broker statements, insurer settlements and credit control.
• Support audit preparation and contribute to ad‑hoc finance projects.
• Develop process documentation and drive systems improvements as the company moves beyond its current platforms.

Required profile

• Solid experience working in an MGA or insurance broker environment.
• Broad finance background covering transactional accounting through to month‑end.
• Professional qualification (ACCA, ACA or CIMA) or equivalent experience.
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to thrive in a fast‑changing, undefined environment.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Familiarity with US GAAP (beneficial but not essential).
