Interim Accountancy Technician – £30 per hour (Hybrid)

About the role

This interim position supports the Place Finance team of a Cheshire local authority, providing finance expertise to services such as Libraries and Housing. Working closely with the Finance Business Partner, you will help set budgets, monitor performance throughout the year, and assist with the closure of accounts.

Key responsibilities

• Support the preparation and maintenance of capital and revenue budgets.
• Provide finance support and advice to operational managers.
• Assist with budget monitoring, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Support the annual closure of accounts process.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and financial procedures.

Required profile

• Experience providing finance support to managers is essential.
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards, financial procedures, and audit principles.
• Good experience using accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
• AAT qualification desirable.
• Local authority or public‑sector finance experience is advantageous.
