Interim Head of Finance – Retail (3‑Month Contract)

About the role

We are seeking an Interim Head of Finance for a leading consumer‑focused retail brand. The successful candidate will step in for a three‑month period to provide stability, oversee daily finance operations and ensure a seamless handover to the incoming permanent Finance Director.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the day‑to‑day running of the finance function.
• Lead and support a small finance team.
• Manage month‑end close and reporting processes.
• Supervise payment runs, cash management and working‑capital optimisation.
• Act as the primary finance contact for the wider business during the transition.
• Mentor and develop existing finance staff.
• Deliver a smooth handover to the new Finance Director.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Experience at Finance Manager or Finance Controller level within an SME.
• Hands‑on, commercially minded and able to build credibility quickly.
• Calm, pragmatic and capable of providing stability during change.
• Background in retail, fashion, consumer or e‑commerce sectors (strongly preferred).
• Available to start no later than 27 July 2026.
