Intermediate Mechanical Engineer - Healthcare

About the role

We are seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to join a multidisciplinary building services consultancy in the West Midlands. The role focuses on the design and delivery of mechanical services for complex healthcare projects, offering exposure to BIM‑led processes and sustainable design initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Design mechanical building services systems, including HVAC and public health installations.
• Produce detailed calculations, specifications and technical reports.
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team using BIM tools.
• Support delivery of healthcare schemes in line with UK regulations and industry standards.
• Attend client, stakeholder and project team meetings.
• Assist senior engineers and mentor junior team members.
• Contribute to sustainable and energy‑efficient design solutions.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
• 3‑6 years’ experience in a building services consultancy.
• Interest or experience in healthcare sector projects.
• Knowledge of UK Building Regulations and CIBSE guidance.
• Familiarity with HTM/HBN standards is desirable.
• Motivation to achieve professional accreditation (IEng/CEng).
