Laboratory Assistant – Sample Processing

About the role
Abbott Rapid Diagnostics is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support the processing and management of biological samples for toxicological analysis. You will work in a regulated laboratory environment, ensuring samples are handled accurately and in compliance with chain‑of‑custody procedures.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare hair and oral fluid samples for analysis within agreed timeframes.
- Enter sample details into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and log discrepancies.
- Maintain equipment calibration, perform routine maintenance, and ensure all instruments meet specifications.
- Store, archive, and dispose of samples according to quality and safety standards.
- Assist with laboratory cleanliness, basic systems maintenance, and risk‑assessment preparation.
- Collaborate with the Accessioning Manager and Customer Services to resolve issues promptly.
Required profile
- GCSE level education, including English.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong accountability.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Commitment to health and safety regulations and standard operating procedures.
Required skills
- Data entry proficiency.
- Experience with Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Equipment calibration and basic maintenance.
