Labour Manager – Resource Operations for Petrochemical Projects

About the role
Trant Engineering is seeking an experienced Labour Manager to lead resource planning and mobilisation on a major petrochemical refinery project. You will ensure the right people, plant, equipment and materials are available to deliver work safely, efficiently and on schedule in a high‑hazard environment.
Key responsibilities
- Lead planning, mobilisation and allocation of construction resources across multiple projects and disciplines.
- Develop and maintain workforce plans to meet current and future project demands.
- Coordinate onboarding, induction and deployment of direct employees and subcontractor personnel.
- Work with delivery teams to forecast labour requirements and adapt to changing priorities.
- Monitor resource utilisation, productivity and performance, identifying efficiency improvements.
- Ensure all personnel hold required competencies, certifications and site authorisations.
- Support recruitment activities and maintain strong relationships with labour providers and subcontractors.
- Produce regular resource reports, forecasts and workforce metrics for senior management.
Required profile
- Significant experience in construction resource planning or operations management, preferably in petrochemical, oil & gas or other major industrial sectors.
- Strong understanding of workforce mobilisation, subcontractor management and construction delivery processes.
- Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and resource‑planning or project‑management systems.
- Sound knowledge of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) requirements in high‑hazard industries.
- Relevant management or construction qualifications (HNC/HND, Degree) and SMSTS or equivalent site‑management qualification are advantageous.
