Learning Mentor – Secondary School (Waltham Forest)

About the role

The school in Waltham Forest is seeking a Learning Mentor to join the team from September. You will work directly with vulnerable pupils aged 11‑18, providing in‑class support and helping to improve their academic outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver targeted, in‑class assistance to students who need additional learning support.
• Investigate behavioural incidents and recommend appropriate sanctions.
• Build positive relationships with teaching and support staff to maintain a disciplined learning environment.
• Monitor student progress and report findings to senior leadership.

Required profile

• Experience supporting secondary‑school students in a classroom setting.
• Ability to establish constructive relationships with both staff and pupils.
• Strong communication skills and a proactive attitude toward student welfare.

Required skills

• Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Familiarity with behaviour management strategies.
