Learning Support Assistant – Special School (Tower Hamlets)

About the role
The Learning Support Assistant will work in a dedicated special school in Tower Hamlets, supporting secondary‑aged pupils with a range of additional needs. You will work closely with teachers and other staff to help students engage with lessons, build confidence and make positive progress.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group assistance to pupils during classroom activities.
- Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and completing tasks.
- Encourage positive behaviour, independence and social interaction.
- Assist teachers with lesson preparation and classroom management.
- Collaborate with the wider school team to develop and implement individual support plans.
Required profile
- Patient, compassionate and enthusiastic about supporting children with additional needs.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with pupils.
- Relevant experience in a SEN or special‑school setting is desirable, though transferable experience will be considered.
- Commitment to the education and development of young people.
