Lecturer in Carpentry & Multi‑Skills (Further Education)

About the role
University College Birmingham is seeking a motivated Lecturer to deliver high‑quality carpentry and multi‑skills training to further education students. You will join a growing department, working alongside senior lecturers and the Head of Department to prepare graduates for employment in the construction sector.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, deliver and assess carpentry and related construction modules.
- Develop curriculum that reflects current industry standards and innovations.
- Collaborate with senior staff to ensure programme quality and relevance.
- Support students in achieving work‑ready competencies.
- Contribute to departmental meetings, quality assurance and continuous improvement activities.
Required profile
- Proven experience teaching carpentry or a strong background as a practising carpenter.
- Commitment to professional development and staying up‑to‑date with industry trends.
- Understanding of safeguarding principles and the PREVENT agenda in an educational context.
