Linux Engineer – Glasgow (Hybrid)

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Linux Engineer to join our IT infrastructure team in Glasgow. You will design, deploy and maintain Linux‑based servers, ensuring high performance, reliability and security while supporting both managed services and project workstreams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy and manage Linux servers (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu).
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues and optimise resources.
• Implement security controls and manage vulnerability remediation.
• Handle backups, recovery procedures and disaster‑recovery planning.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams for application deployment and integration.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools (Bash, Python, Perl).
• Provide technical support and guidance to IT colleagues and end‑users.
• Document system configurations, processes and procedures.
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices in Linux administration.

Required profile

• Linux certification such as RHCE or LPIC.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Knowledge of container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience as a Linux Engineer or similar role.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
