Linux Systems Administrator

About the role

We are seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to join a fast‑growing UK‑based SaaS provider serving the higher‑education sector. This remote‑first position blends hands‑on operational support with infrastructure automation and long‑term platform reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain Linux‑based production infrastructure (Ubuntu/Debian).
• Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve platform and service incidents.
• Automate deployment and operational processes using tools such as Ansible.
• Support infrastructure planning, scaling and resilience initiatives.
• Develop and improve internal operational tooling.
• Contribute to security, reliability and performance enhancements.
• Produce and maintain clear technical documentation.
• Participate in an on‑call support rota.

Required profile

• Strong experience in Linux systems administration.
• Proficiency with automated provisioning tools (e.g., Ansible).
• Good understanding of TCP/IP networking and security best practices.
• Solid scripting skills (Bash, Python, PHP, PowerShell or Ruby).
• Experience with Git/GitHub version control.
• Previous work in a Linux Sysadmin, DevOps or infrastructure‑focused engineering role.
