About the role
Local Organisers are at the heart of UNISON’s growth and members’ success in their workplaces. This dynamic, hands‑on role involves daily visits to workplaces, talking with workers, building relationships and inspiring collective action. You will receive comprehensive training and ongoing support while working on projects linked to UNISON’s national Organising to Win strategy.
Key responsibilities
- Engage directly with workers across the Northern region to discuss workplace issues and build strong relationships.
- Inspire and mobilise collective action by organising campaigns and supporting members in their workplaces.
- Deliver projects that align with UNISON’s wider strategic goals and the national Organising to Win agenda.
Required profile
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective engagement with diverse employee groups.
- A clear understanding of the trade union movement and its objectives.
- Flexibility to travel throughout the Northern region and occasional trips to London for training or meetings.
