Manager - Vendor Management

About the role

American Express Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) is seeking a Manager, Vendor Management to own the end‑to‑end lifecycle of third‑party vendor relationships. You will drive strategic engagement, ensure compliance with policies, and maximize value through effective contract and cost management.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a vendor management strategy that rationalizes enterprise and multi‑market relationships.
• Lead pre‑contract activities, including due diligence, data evaluation, and internal approvals.
• Act as the designated Third‑Party Relationship Manager, overseeing onboarding, ongoing oversight, and off‑boarding.
• Collaborate with market contacts on vendor budgets, forecasts, and actuals to align with financial targets.
• Consolidate vendor usage across teams to drive cost efficiencies and mitigate risk of overruns.
• Conduct regular service reviews to assess performance, SLAs, and cost efficiency.
• Partner with Product and Technology teams to define technical requirements and coordinate vendor engagements.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience in vendor management, third‑party risk, procurement, or sourcing.
• Strong understanding of compliance policies such as AEMP10.
• Ability to influence without direct authority across global, matrixed teams.
• Excellent communication skills for presenting complex concepts to stakeholders.
