MESM Cat A2 and B Operator

About the role

Frazer‑Nash Consultancy is seeking experienced MESM Cat A2 and Cat B operators to support its submarine engineering and safety programmes. You will work on high‑visibility projects for the Royal Navy and allied partners, contributing to safety case development, maintenance optimisation and risk reduction.

Key responsibilities

• Produce safety case documentation for naval nuclear reactor plants.
• Optimise scope and planning for submarine maintenance periods.
• Assess submarine commission, life‑extension programmes and support AUKUS initiatives.
• Provide embedded client support across all submarine classes.
• Conduct safety hazard analyses to inform future submarine designs.
• Offer technical oversight for civil nuclear power stations during planned outages.
• Apply SM SQEP experience to shore‑side infrastructure projects.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a MESM Cat A2 or Cat B operator.
• Background in the commercial sector supporting submarine enterprises.
• Knowledge of whole‑boat or nuclear safety cases and related analysis techniques.
• Strong experience in risk management, including ALARP assessments.
