Minerals Analyst – Laboratory Testing

About the role

Cawood is seeking a Minerals Analyst to join its laboratory team. You will be responsible for preparing, analysing and reporting mineral samples for our land‑based industry clients, ensuring high quality and compliance with SOPs.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and analyse mineral samples accurately and within agreed timelines.
• Enter results into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and report findings.
• Prepare chemical standards and reagents following Standard Operating Procedures.
• Maintain equipment, PPE and laboratory cleanliness; report any damage promptly.
• Communicate any quality or service issues to the Team Leader or Section Manager.
• Support safety initiatives and report accidents or near‑misses immediately.
• Assist in onboarding and training new laboratory staff.
• Operate instrumentation such as ICP‑OES, ICP‑MS, UV‑VIS, analytical balances, ovens and furnaces after training.

Required skills

• Experience with ICP‑OES instrumentation.
• Experience with ICP‑MS instrumentation.
• Experience with UV‑VIS spectrophotometry.
• Proficiency using analytical balances, ovens and furnaces.
• Familiarity with LIMS for data entry and reporting.
