Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a fast‑paced production facility in Birmingham. The role involves hands‑on maintenance of both electrical and mechanical plant, ensuring continuous operation of machinery and building services.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to breakdowns, diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs.
• Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and total productive maintenance (TPM) activities.
• Maintain and repair equipment such as PLCs, inverter drives, conveyors, packaging machinery and control systems.
• Support building services including HVAC, refrigeration, fire systems and building management systems (BMS).
• Perform mechanical and electrical maintenance across the site and keep accurate maintenance records.
• Assist with health & safety compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Multi‑skilled engineer with strong electrical and mechanical fault‑finding ability.
• Experience in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment (food or automotive preferred).
• Competent with 3‑phase systems, PLCs, HMI and control circuits.
• Ability to read electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic drawings.
• Knowledge of motors, gearboxes, fabrication and welding.
• HNC or equivalent engineering qualification and 17th/18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
