Paralegal – Sensitive & Complex Casework Team

About the role

The Sensitive and Complex Casework Team (SCCT) sits within the NMC’s legal services and handles the most complex, high‑risk fitness‑to‑practice cases. As a Paralegal you will support lawyers, manage interim order risk and contribute to investigations that protect the public.

Key responsibilities

• Support lawyers by progressing complex cases and managing interim order risk.
• Carry out investigative activities such as case planning, taking witness statements, drafting reports and assisting with instructions for case presenters.
• Ensure cases are progressed efficiently, identifying and managing risks to support high‑quality regulatory decision‑making.

Required profile

• Strong regulatory foundation with sound judgement and the ability to analyse complex, sensitive information.
• Organised, resilient and able to manage competing priorities while meeting timescales and maintaining high accuracy.
• Excellent collaborative skills, sharing knowledge and contributing to a consistent, high‑quality team approach.
• Clear written and verbal communication, capable of translating complex issues into practical advice.
