Specialist Case Lead – Sensitive & Complex Casework

About the role

The Sensitive and Complex Casework Team (SCCT) sits within the NMC’s legal services and plays a vital role in progressing the most complex, high‑risk and sensitive fitness‑to‑practice cases. The team works closely with internal and external stakeholders on cases of heightened public interest, including maternity‑related matters.

Key responsibilities

• Manage sensitive and complex fitness‑to‑practice cases such as neonatal and maternal deaths, coroner findings and major inquiries.
• Support casework to ensure investigations are conducted fairly, proportionately and in full legal compliance, upholding the highest professional standards.

Required profile

• Core management skills with experience of people management.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
