Part-time Communication Officer

About the role

We are seeking a part-time Communication Officer to join the Regional Refugee Forum North East, an independent membership organisation supporting refugee and asylum-seeker communities in the North East of England. The role will help amplify the voices of these communities and promote integration through effective communication.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement communication strategies that reflect the needs and perspectives of refugee and asylum-seeker members.
• Create, edit and distribute content across various channels, including newsletters, social media, website updates and press releases.
• Maintain relationships with media outlets, partners and stakeholders to raise the profile of the Forum’s activities.
• Support the organisation’s advocacy work by preparing briefing materials and reports.
• Assist in organising events, campaigns and community outreach initiatives.

Required profile

• Passion for refugee and asylum-seeker issues and commitment to peer-support principles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently and manage a part-time workload of approximately 12 hours per week.
• Experience in the non-profit or community sector is desirable.
