Pay and Reward Officer – 3‑Month Contract (Hybrid)

About the role

Our client, a large local government organisation, is seeking an experienced Pay and Reward professional to support the Council’s compensation and job evaluation processes. This is a three‑month fixed‑term contract with the possibility of extension for the right candidate.

Key responsibilities

• Support delivery of pay, reward and job evaluation processes under the direction of the Pay and Reward Specialist.
• Undertake job evaluation assessments and prepare supporting documentation.
• Provide advice to managers and HR colleagues on pay and grading matters.
• Assist with organisational change, restructuring and grading support.
• Prepare reports, papers and recommendations related to pay and reward.
• Maintain accurate, compliant records and coordinate job evaluation panels and appeals.
• Analyse pay and workforce data to identify trends, risks and review opportunities.
• Respond to employee and manager queries on pay, grading and reward.
• Collaborate with HR & OD to support workforce and organisational priorities.
• Support the People Resourcing Board with pay‑related decisions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a pay, reward, job evaluation or HR environment.
• Knowledge of job evaluation principles and pay structures.
• Experience supporting pay and grading reviews within a large, complex organisation.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Ability to manage a varied workload and meet tight deadlines.

• Daily rate of £275‑£300 (GBP) for the contract period.
