About the role

This Personal Tax Semi Senior role in Darlington is all about helping clients with their tax compliance and advisory needs while supporting the wider tax team. You'll play a key part in ensuring the smooth running of the tax department in the professional services industry.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare personal tax returns and ensure timely submissions to HMRC.
• Assist with tax planning and advisory projects for a range of clients.
• Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and provide updates.
• Support the senior tax team with day‑to‑day compliance tasks.
• Keep up‑to‑date with changes in tax legislation and regulations.
• Handle queries from clients and HMRC in a timely manner.
• Ensure accurate record‑keeping and documentation for all client work.
• Contribute to improving internal processes and workflows within the tax department.

Required profile

• Experience in preparing personal tax returns and working within a tax department.
• A good understanding of UK tax legislation and compliance requirements.
• Strong communication skills for liaising with clients and colleagues.
• An organised approach with attention to detail and accuracy.
• The ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
• A relevant qualification or working towards one, such as ATT or CTA, is desirable.
