Accounts Receivable Assistant

About the role

We are partnering with a global power solutions and engineering leader to find an Accounts Receivable Assistant for a six‑month temporary assignment in Darlington. The role offers a hybrid working model, with three days per week on site, and a competitive hourly rate of £13.47 (PAYE). You will join the Business Services team and support the AR function across European ledgers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage high‑volume collections and ledger queries from internal and external customers via phone and email, following standardised collection strategies.
• Prepare and maintain reports that track the progress and status of customer accounts.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Sales and other Business Units to identify issues and drive solutions.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement projects to enhance accounts‑receivable workflows and controls.
• Provide team support by covering additional responsibilities and handling general administrative tasks.

Required profile

• 1‑2 years of experience in an Accounts Receivable, Credit Control or finance administration role.
• Minimum of 5 GCSEs including Maths and English, or an NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with a friendly, customer‑focused approach.
• Strong attention to detail, organisational ability and the capacity to prioritise work under pressure.
• Knowledge of French is a plus but not mandatory.

Required skills

• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
